Present Perfect Continuous - zastosowanie i Present Perfect Simple vs Continuous

Porównaj:

I've painted the kitchen.
I've been painting the kitchen.

W I've painted the kitchen najważniejszy jest rezultat: kuchnia została pomalowana. W I've been painting the kitchen najważniejsza jest czynność i proces. Nie wiemy automatycznie, czy praca została ukończona.

I've done = rezultat. I've been doing = proces.

Co oznacza Present Perfect Continuous?

Present Perfect Continuous pokazuje czynność, która:

  • rozpoczęła się wcześniej,
  • trwała przez pewien czas,
  • nadal trwa albo właśnie się zakończyła,
  • ma związek z teraźniejszością.

Najczęściej interesuje nas proces, czas trwania albo widoczny teraz skutek wcześniejszej czynności.

Budowa Present Perfect Continuous

Schemat:

have/has + been + verb-ing

OsobaForma
I / you / we / theyhave been working
he / she / ithas been working

I've been working.
You've been waiting.
She's been studying.
It has been raining.

Przeczenia

have/has + not + been + -ing

I haven't been sleeping well.
She hasn't been working recently.
We haven't been exercising enough.
Tom hasn't been feeling well.

Pytania

Have/Has + subject + been + -ing?

Have you been working?
Has she been studying?
Have they been waiting long?
Has it been raining?

Pytania z how long

How long + have/has + subject + been + -ing?

How long have you been waiting?
How long has she been learning English?
How long have you been living in this area?

To jedna z najważniejszych konstrukcji maturalnych.

Zastosowanie

1. Czynność zaczęła się wcześniej i nadal trwa

I've been studying English for five years.

We've been waiting for an hour.
She's been working here since January.
I've been reading this book all morning.
They've been living in London for several years.
It has been raining since lunchtime.

Linia czasu prowadzi od początku czynności aż do teraz.

Przykład charakterystyczny dla zakresu CKE:

We have been waiting here for ages!

Czekanie zaczęło się wcześniej i nadal trwa.

Have you been running?

You're out of breath. Have you been running?
Your clothes are dirty. What have you been doing?
Her eyes are red. Has she been crying?
The ground is wet. It has been raining.
I'm tired because I've been working all day.

Porównaj:

Are you crying? - płaczesz teraz
Have you been crying? - płakałaś przed chwilą; widzę skutek

3. Podkreślamy czas trwania

I've been studying for three hours.
She's been waiting since ten o'clock.
We've been travelling all day.
How long have you been working here?

Typowe określenia: for three hours, since Monday, all day, all morning, all week, for ages, lately, recently.

4. Powtarzająca się czynność w okresie do teraz

Continuous nie musi oznaczać jednej czynności wykonywanej bez przerwy.

I've been attending these classes every Tuesday since May.

I've been going to the gym three times a week since January.
We've been meeting regularly for the last few months.
She has been visiting her grandmother every weekend.
I've been taking driving lessons twice a week.

5. Recently i lately

I've been sleeping badly recently.
She's been working a lot lately.
Have you been exercising recently?
We've been eating out quite often lately.

Nie musimy podawać dokładnego punktu początku. Interesuje nas ogólny okres „ostatnio”.

For, since i how long

for = okres
since = moment rozpoczęcia

ForSince
for ten minutessince Monday
for two yearssince May
for a long timesince 2022
for agessince I moved here

I've been waiting for two hours.
I've been waiting since 10 a.m.

❌ since three hours
✅ for three hours

Przydatne konstrukcje:

I've been studying a lot for the last few weeks.
She's been feeling tired for the last few days.
We've been discussing this for the last two hours.
I've been working all day.

Simple czy Continuous?

To najważniejsza część lekcji.

1. Proces czy rezultat?

Present Perfect SimplePresent Perfect Continuous
rezultatproces
I've cleaned the kitchen.I've been cleaning the kitchen.
She's painted the wall. She's been painting the wall.

Continuous nie oznacza zawsze czynności niedokończonej. I've been working all morning można powiedzieć również chwilę po zakończeniu. Nadal podkreślamy proces.

2. How long czy how many/how much?

How long have you been reading?
I've been reading for two hours.

How many pages have you read?
I've read 80 pages.

I've been writing emails all morning. - proces
I've written ten emails this morning. - liczba rezultatów

Jeśli pojawia się liczba zakończonych rezultatów, często potrzebujemy Simple:

I've read three books.
I've written five emails.
I've visited London four times.

❌ I've been visiting London four times.

3. Czynność zakończona czy aktywność?

I've been reading this book. - książka nie musi być skończona
I've read this book. - książka jest przeczytana

I've been repairing my bike. - zajmowałem się naprawą
I've repaired my bike. - rower jest naprawiony

4. Widoczny skutek procesu

You're covered in paint. Have you been painting?

5. Rezultat końcowy

The walls look great. You've painted the whole room!

Ukończony rezultat prowadzi do Simple.

Jedna sytuacja, dwa pytania

How long have you been reading this book? - czas
How much of the book have you read? - ilość

Najlepsze pytanie pomocnicze:

Czy ważniejsze jest co zostało zrobione? → Simple
→ Continuous

For i since nie oznaczają automatycznie Continuous

Obie formy mogą występować z for i since:

I've worked here for five years.
I've been working here for five years.

Przy live i work często możliwe są obie:

I've lived here for ten years.
I've been living here for ten years.

Simple częściej przedstawia sytuację jako fakt, Continuous mocniej podkreśla trwanie. W wielu codziennych kontekstach różnica jest niewielka.

Czasowniki statyczne

Czasowniki opisujące stan zwykle wymagają Present Perfect Simple: know, believe, understand, own, belong, need, want, like, love.

❌ I've been knowing Tom for ten years.
✅ I've known Tom for ten years.

❌ I've been having this car for five years.
✅ I've had this car for five years.

I've always believed that education is important.
I've liked this band since I was a teenager.
She's always wanted to travel.

Znaczenie czasownika może zmienić wybór formy

Have jako posiadanie:

I've had this phone for two years.

Have jako powtarzające się doświadczenie:

I've been having problems with my phone recently.
I've been having headaches recently.

Think jako opinia:

I've always thought that...

Think jako proces rozważania:

I've been thinking about changing my job.

Decyduje znaczenie czasownika.

Writing

I've been trying to improve my English recently.
Many students have been spending too much time online lately.
