Future Continuous znajduje się w zakresie matury rozszerzonej. Charakterystyczny przykład CKE to I'll be working at five. Dla zdającego wyłącznie podstawę temat ma niższy priorytet, ale na rozszerzeniu powinien być dobrze opanowany.

Budowa Future Continuous

Schemat:

will + be + verb-ing

I will be working.
She will be studying.
They will be travelling.

Forma jest taka sama dla wszystkich osób. Skróty:

I'll be working.
You'll be waiting.
He'll be sleeping.
We'll be travelling.

Przeczenie

will not / won't + be + verb-ing

I won't be working tomorrow evening.
She won't be using the car.
They won't be staying long.

Czynność w toku

Najważniejsze zastosowanie: w danym przyszłym momencie będziemy „w środku” czynności.

I'll be working at five.
This time tomorrow, we'll be flying to Spain.
At ten tonight, I'll be studying.
Don't call between seven and eight. We'll be having dinner.

Future Simple czy Future Continuous?

I'll work tomorrow. - decyzja, obietnica lub neutralna informacja zależnie od kontekstu
I'll be working tomorrow. - praca jako przewidywana część jutrzejszego dnia

At eight, I will start work. - rozpoczęcie o ósmej
At eight, I will be working. - o ósmej praca będzie już w toku

Przedział przyszłego czasu

Between nine and eleven, I'll be taking an exam.
All afternoon, we'll be travelling.
This evening, Tom will be preparing his presentation.

Kluczowe jest spojrzenie na czynność jako proces odbywający się w określonym przyszłym czasie.

Czynność w toku, gdy wydarzy się coś innego

When you arrive, I'll be cooking dinner.
When the lesson starts, we'll be writing a test.
While you are travelling, I'll be taking care of the dog.

Po when nadal stosujemy formę teraźniejszą:

This time tomorrow, I'll be lying on a beach.

To charakterystyczne konteksty, ale nie magiczne sygnały. Liczy się znaczenie czynności w toku.

Przewidywany przebieg wydarzeń

Future Continuous może przedstawiać przyszłą czynność jako naturalny lub przewidywany element sytuacji:

I'll be seeing Anna at the conference.
We'll be staying at the same hotel, so we can meet.
I'll be travelling past your house, so I can drop the package off.

Nie skupiamy się na samej decyzji, lecz na czynności jako części przyszłego przebiegu wydarzeń.

Pytania o plany

Will you be using the car this evening?
Will you be staying for dinner?
Will you be going into town later?

Takie pytania często neutralnie sprawdzają plan rozmówcy.
