Status w CKE
CKE wymienia zdania warunkowe typu 0, I i II w zakresie podstawowym, a typu 0, I, II i III w zakresie rozszerzonym. Dla Zero Conditional podaje przykład: If you enter the room, an alarm goes off.
Najważniejsza idea
Zero Conditional opisuje zależność przedstawianą jako ogólna prawda, reguła, instrukcja działania systemu albo regularnie powtarzający się skutek. Nie chodzi o jedną konkretną przyszłą sytuację.
If you heat ice, it melts.
If I drink coffee late, I cannot sleep.
If you enter the room, an alarm goes off.
Budowa
Najbardziej typowy schemat:
IF + PRESENT SIMPLE, PRESENT SIMPLE
If you press this button, the machine stops.
If people do not drink enough water, they get thirsty.
W obu częściach bardzo często występuje Present Simple, ponieważ mówimy o regule lub powtarzalnym związku przyczynowo-skutkowym.
Kolejność części zdania
If I do not sleep enough, I feel tired.
I feel tired if I do not sleep enough.
Gdy zdanie zaczyna się od części z if, stawiamy po niej przecinek. Gdy if-clause jest na końcu, przecinek zwykle nie jest potrzebny.
Fakty, zasady i nawyki
Ogólne prawdy i fakty
If water reaches 100°C, it boils.
If you mix blue and yellow, you get green.
Zasady i działanie systemów
If you enter the wrong password three times, the account locks.
If you press START, the programme begins.
Nawyki i regularne skutki
If I go to bed late, I am tired the next day.
If Tom eats too quickly, he feels ill.
Nie twierdzimy, że sytuacja wydarza się właśnie teraz. Mówimy, co zwykle dzieje się w określonych warunkach.
If, when i whenever
W Zero Conditional if i when bywają podobne, ponieważ rezultat jest regularny.
If I drink coffee in the evening, I cannot sleep.
When I drink coffee in the evening, I cannot sleep.
When mocniej sugeruje "za każdym razem, gdy". If skupia się na warunku.
Whenever znaczy "za każdym razem, gdy" i pasuje do powtarzalnych zależności.
Whenever I feel stressed, I go for a walk.
Przeczenia i pytania
If I do not eat breakfast, I get hungry before lunch.
If the machine does not receive enough power, it does not start.
Pamiętaj o do/does w przeczeniu Present Simple: do not / does not + forma podstawowa.
Pytania mogą dotyczyć reguły, procedury lub typowej reakcji:
What happens if you press this button?
What do you do if you cannot sleep?
Does the alarm go off if someone opens the door?

Zero czy First Conditional?
To najważniejsze porównanie.
If I drink coffee late, I cannot sleep. - typowa, powtarzalna zależność.
If I drink coffee tonight, I will not sleep. - konkretna możliwa sytuacja w przyszłości.
If it rains a lot, this road floods. - regularny skutek.
If it rains tomorrow, we will stay at home. - konkretna przyszłość.
W klasycznym Zero Conditional nie używamy will do przedstawienia zwykłego rezultatu, ponieważ nie prognozujemy jednej przyszłej sytuacji.
Unless
Unless oznacza "jeśli nie" lub "chyba że". W zależnościach ogólnych może zastępować if ... not.
Unless plants get enough light, they do not grow well.
If plants do not get enough light, they do not grow well.
Nie tworzymy podwójnego przeczenia:
❌ Unless plants do not get enough light...
Zero Conditional może opisywać także osobistą regularność, zwyczaj lub instrukcję systemu. Kluczowe jest to, że zależność jest przedstawiana jako typowa lub powtarzalna, a nie jako jedna hipotetyczna przyszłość.
